I have just started playing with ESP8266 boards. I'm not very far in getting a few applications to work with AT commands and slowly hooking it up to an Arduino. I may be wrong but the potential of these chips when it comes to HSMM mesh networking is tremendous. Is anyone else out there having the same idea? Would love to see some development by someone who really knows what's going on.

It's been a while, but there is a more recent post over at http://www.broadband-hamnet.org/hsmm-mesh-forums/view-postlist/forum-2-hardware/topic-1641-esp8266-and-bbhnhamnet.html I'd love to get more discussion going, so I am going to continue my comments there.
