Just found this website via QRZ and I think the project is a great idea.  I ordered a WRT54GL a few minutes ago from Newegg and it should be here in a few days.  I'll probably have some questions after that.  Not sure if it's all that great a price but Newegg has GL's "on sale" - $49.99 w/ free shipping.  That at least sounded like a fair price for a brand new one to me.

Not a bad price for a new one with free shipping, at least it has a guarantee. I usuall get them for around $20 to 40 on Ebay, but pbviously used without warranty, so I think you got a good deal.

The "L" in WRT54GL stands for "Linux". When Linksys neutered the WRT54G (v5+) with half the RAM/Flash there was great uproar. The WRT54GL was released in response to that. I guess somebody at Cisco realized they could still sell boatloads of the WRT54GL to the various alternative firmware groups. WRT54GL = works without problems. It is the WRT54G and WRT54GS that you have to worry about. -Brian/KY9K

I also purchased from Newegg with $10 off.. I also went to Linksys and purchased a Refurbished WRT54GL for $39.99 w/free shipping {the 10% off didn't work??}. Steve

Thanks for the hint on the refurbs!! Just received my brand new WRT54GL from Amazon.com today - had so much fun with it so far, ordered up 2 more refurbs from Linksys.

Soon, *very* soon, Casper, WY will be on the map.
