I have a problem with the dissapearing node issue and due to physical barriers and rf interference I would like to run a hard wire link/bridge between two nodes about 200 feet apart. Unfortunately after hours or reading articles and trying many different configurations, nothing works.

I can't seem to bridge the wifi and lan subnets. My knowledge is pretty limited in this area but I can usually find and follow instructions pretty well, I have found a number of comments and some instructions but nothing has worked.

I'm also interested in this kind of a setup. Any pointers?

So I still can't find any good information on this topic. On the change log 0.3.3 http://www.hsmm-mesh.org/documentation/73-firmware-change-log.html it says "added the ability to bridge two meshes on separate RF networks". Why can't I find any information or support for this configuration? Is there someone that I can contact? Am I missing something?

I have had mine bridge by simply plugging it into the master node then adding power. Have you tried that??

That would be great! I'll give it a shot. Thanks!

I have some more questions about the network setup. I would like to connect the router to my home network and be able to access it from a PC on my home network. I would also like to be able to access the internet from the mesh network. Should the home network be connected to one of the LAN ports or should it be connected to the WAN port on the router? The home network uses the standard home network subnet - 192.168.1.1 The WAN port should be able to get an IP address from the home network DHCP server if that is specified in the wrt54 router configuration. Correct? To connect one of the LAN ports to the home network the LAN port IP address needs to be changed to the 192.168.1.x subnet. Correct? Thanks in advance for the help. Ed

Got it figured out... I assigned an IP address from the home LAN to the router LAN port. With a router LAN port connected to the home network, the mesh web server is accessible from any PC on the home network. The article on Using the Mesh by Jim, K5KTF, was very helpful.

Unless you were running 0.3.3, I'm doubtful that could have worked. Are you sure they weren't actually bridging by wireless?

I did some digging in SVN, and what changed in 0.3.3 was that a checkbox was added, resulting in "eth0.0" being added to the interface declaration in the oslrd.conf file if checked. However, this setting was commented out in 0.4.0 with the note "disable for now" and has been hidden ever since.

It sure would be helpful if the maintainers would chime in and explain why the setting was removed. If we understood, maybe we could help fix it.
