I was exploring with the few NODES I have here for my personal MESH. And I changed one to AP Mode, and Now I CAN NOT connect to it in any useable way.

I am able to see it via wireless, but cannot get an IP from it, or anything useable. I have tried connecting it to an other working node to get the IP address from it.. how ever I still get nothing.

Any suggestions??

I am able to get the IP address for the AP Mode NODE, Iv identified it via its MAC address. How ever, I cannot even ping that IP address. How ever it does show on the MESH NODE that is working.

I have done a port scan on the Router... and there seems to be NO open ports between 1 - 10000.

After Many attempts to get into this I did a 30/30/30 reset and left the router off over night. Afterwards I unpluged the primary router. One hour later I pluged them both in together and powered up at the same time. and waited untill both of the routers lights had setteled down. I was then able to reach the localap:8080 ip address and switch it back to its default settings. Since then I have done a full re-flashing of the software, and re-installed the packages I needed (Asterisk and its goodies). Every thing has run smoothly since. Now I just have to get Asterisk running between the two. This was a problem of USER HEAD SPACE.. I did not follow the instructions for setting it up as an AP.. thus I ran into the problems. Not an issue of HSMM-MESH Its self.

The AP home page must be different from the mesh node home page. Try 172.27.0.2:8080 then go back to mesh node mode. -Glenn KD5MFW

I'm not sure you really want to do a 30/30/30 reset.

However, there is a description of how to do it here: http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Hard_reset_or_30/30/30

BTW, there's a LOT of info on WRT-54G on the DD-WRT and Open WRT project web pages.  Also the Wikipedia WRT-54 page is pretty good, too.

I'm not part of the development team, so take what I say with a grain of salt. I'm also easily confused.

I have experimented with this 2 times, and the solution is VERY FORGETTABLE -- meaning, I can never remember it. So here is what you have to do to get at the console of the AP: 1. Go into your PC and set the IP addressing to STATIC 2. Enter 172.27.0.3 with mask 255.255.255.255 3. Enter DNS 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 4. Connect the cable, and enter in the url 172.27.0.2:8080 I have never had success using wifi to get access. Once you do this, it should work quite well. Further testing also shows that the access to an attached mesh node with web access defined works really well. At end-April, I will present to my local club on how to setup Mesh vs WRT. Following that, my 100+ slide presentation will be made available online and I can share it here to. It is a very verbose "how to".
