I just finished installing the firmware on my WRT54G v2.2 and my mesh node is set up. Now on to Putty (and other software). Do I have to have a COM connection to the router via the serial port> DB9 to RJ45 to make the connection? ..or is there a way via the Network Adapter?

There is a serial port on the WRT54G router board...

There is an easier way via a network adapter. What you do is plug an Ethernet cord between your computer and router and with putty open, ssh into the node with your host set as localnode and your port set as 2222. username is root, and your password is what you set it to be in the initial setup.

Besides, the serial port in the WRT54G is NOT RS-232 but TTL (0-3.3v) serial. You'd need a TTL-to-RS232 adapter if you'd want to connect it to a PC's serial/RS232 port.
