Running the wrt54g and up until this weekend, all went well.  Checked things out this morning and the node had stopped functioning.  Have attempted to log back into ithe wrt54g but, no go? I have tried, localnode:8080, 172.27.0.5 and the fallback IP address of 192.168.1.1.  NADA!

Wirelessly, the node seems to be transmitting or at least I can see my callsign-HSMM SSID.  Since I am still building and learning.....well if I cant login, I can't make any changes.

Have read all sorts of articles on the forum as well has infomation from many users but, nothing has proven to be successful.

So,  I would like, or I think I would like, to start over again from a reset, however, I haven't found a good procedure to follow.

If you hadn't changed anything, my first treatment would be to apply the BRS (Big Red Switch). Power off. Wait a while. Power up. Do this to the computer, too. (Normal shut down and power off). It's amazing how often this works.

Graham, Thanks for the reply! However, I have done that several times as well as the hard reset, i.e. 30/30/30. As I said, the darn thing is broadcasting an SSID but, I can not identify it's IP address. Gosh ,I have tried. Be it, WiFi, LAN or WAN, the IP address is not displayed. Have attempted the TFTP reset or refresh and again, no luck. Wes

I've also been having problems since upgrading (I see this has been happening).

Nearly went the TFTP route, then I tried something- it doesn't much fix the problem, but at least you know it's not totally bricked:

(this assumes you have a "regular" network in your house)

  1. On a computer connected to the home network, open your home router's status page which shows locally connected clients and their MAC/IP addresses.
  2. Connect the Internet/WAN port of the BBHN router to one of the LAN ports on your home router.
  3. Watch the home router's status page. You may have to refresh manually. A new device should pop up in the list.
  4. Open up the new IP address with port 8080. So, if the new device appeared as 192.168.0.103, type 192.168.0.103:8080 into your browser.
  5. You should be looking at the BBHN status page.

Now, this isn't solving the problem yet, just letting you know that it is alive and (almost) well. I tried to telnet and ssh to the BBHN router, no luck. I ran nmap against it, and the sole open port was 8080. Sounds like something puked during init.

I plan on adding a serial port to see if I can get in that way and see what is going on.
