Sorry if this question was asked before. I am quit a Noob regaring firmware flashing so all the stuff on this forum is a bit hard to follow..

I once flashed a few Linksys WRT54GL V 1.1 modems to use them as a Mesh node. Unfortunately the 2.4 GHz network is so occupied that it wasn't possible to make the disired connections. The project moved to the dark attic.

Now I like to restore the old firmware of the routers and afther that I would like to flash a version of DD-WRT into it. I want to use them as an repeater during some camping time.

This is what I have now.

A Linksys modem type WRT54GL version 1.1 responding to  HTTP://localnode:8080/ and comming up with the login and mesh node screen.

I can select the admin part and then let the modem look voor the BIN file. This he doesn't read.

It's the last updated firmware file version 6.0  downloaded from the Linksys site.

Is it possible to flash the Original firmware back in? and how is it done?

Thanx for your quick reply HP2AT. I tried it without the extra switch. I used a lot of timings, but no luck so far. I quess the switch is needed to overcome the time Windows need to restore the ethernet cable connection. I give it an other try tomorrow. See if I can pick up an ethernet switch somewhere that isn't answering to 192.168.1.1.
