When I packaged ngircd v20.2 for the WRT54G the post-install script basically does two edits on the default config file. The first is to us the node's hostname as a server name within an IRC network, should you choose to connect multiple IRC servers. This is close to the beginning of the config file, in the [Global] section, of the form name = ae5ae-base2.mesh This is NOT, nor should be confused with, a hostname for a WiFi or TCP/IP network -- it is strictly for IRC. **BUT** it is required.
The second edit is to insert the node's root password into the config file as the password for the IRC Operator login. This operator account is for managing the server, not individual channels (Channel Op). You should be able to read about these account in the manual Conrad pointed you to above. This edit is done in the first [Operator] section in the config file. The line will look like this: Password = AbraCadDabra That's it. |
