Hello all,
I am just getting started with Broadband-Hamnet. I have ran into a problem. I have two nodes flashed with v1.0.0, my topology is like this
Internet Router connected to Node1 WAN port --- Node1 set as gateway & with PC win7 --- Mesh --- Node2 with laptop win7
Both nodes are set to direct 5, PC and Laptop get a 10.X.X.X with 255.255.255.248 subnet. Both PC and Laptop can connect to the Internet with no problems. I have added them to there respected nodes with unique host names. When I ping one of the computers from the other one using the host name it resolves the proper IP address for it but will not allow pings to go through. It looks like the routing is not right but the Internet works.
Any help would be appreciated, trying to set this up for our ARES group.
Thanks Eli KD8RBH |

If it helps I did a tracert and got this: C:\Users\admin>tracert autolog-pc Tracing route to autolog-pc.local.mesh [10.102.152.178] over a maximum of 30 hops:
1 <1 ms <1 ms <1 ms localnode.local.mesh [10.166.98.225]

I am glad to hear that fixed the problem! Your problem is in Windows. 5 Host Direct is nothing more than a 5 Host DMZ. So that rules out the mesh as it passes all traffic from point A to point B.
Look at setting up a Samba or FTP Server on a Linux machine if you want to share files between Windows PC's. It takes no more than 30 minutes. |

30 minutes to set up a linux server? Really? I will be pounding my head against a wall for weeks to get that to work.
It will happen someday, its all part of the experience I guess. |

KJ6OGW, "setting up a Samba or FTP Server on a Linux machine" implies that you already have a Linux server. So setting up a Samba or FTP ON a Linux machine should take no more than 30 minutes (if the user knows what they are doing). And with that, the problem posted in this thread has already been solved. |

No problem, I live near the guy who did the plug in rasberry pi. I might meet him next week, we plan to set up some portable nodes in that area.
Anyway, you are right. I set up ubuntu on a laptop, set up samba and got windows 7 and linux to talk across a few nodes. Having problems with my xp machine.
Its a struggle to do this stuff. Many of us are novices but its all new and fun to play with.
Its tough to weed through the documentation but I understand that we are all on limited time and budgets. I was having the same problem, thanks for the help. |
