Another area to get our feet wet in!!

The Niagara Peninsula Amateur Radio Club www.nparc.on.ca is now working to get a Mesh Network up and running here in the peninsula.  We hope to have 3 to 6 WiFi units up by the end of this year, with several more added in the year.  Other than some tall trees we are generally in a flate terrian around here so a few good omni antennas would be expected.  Myself, I plan on installing both a TP-Link Dish and a TP-Link Omni onto the same tower at around 40 feet, and rotate them with a TV rotor.  Yet to decide on how much amplification to use, 2W, 3W, or 5W.  (My neighborours will love me!!).  We will make sure that all stations that get on the air are located onto the map for others to see.  I will update everyone on our progress.

Cheers &73s

Hi Kevin, Good luck with your network. I'm hoping to get some traction out here in NS as well. 73 ve1xt

Hi Kevin, You can try pointing to Mississauga. We have a node (VE3MIS) with an omni and an amp running on top of the 20-storey building with the perfect view on the lake. It should be about 60km across the lake to the escarpment. I wonder if you can get a shadow of our signal. The node is still running the old firmware though. Regards, Anthony

Hi Anthony When I get the antenna up and able to rotate it (By end of November) I will look for your signal from across the lake. We are also looking at installing a node at one of our repeater sites which has a good footprint from here in Fonthill. I will let you know when we are ready to fire things up. Cheers Kevin, va3kgs
