mesh node up and running when go to connect on xchat error connection failed error no route to host did the setup for port forwarding   using XP on laptop

Sounds like DNS off hand.

Are you able to browse to mesh nodes by name in your browser ?

Do you have a 2nd network turned (wifi should be off to avoid confusing the system)

Port forwarding: are you running in NAT mode? Port forwarding is only needed for NAT mode.

thanks conrad that did the trick stut wifi off started over re booted PC and router. work on xchat now help was right on 73...rick
