Get a tftp program and follow the instructions about using failsafe mode in the startup section. I used tftpd64 on a laptop under W8.1 sucessfully. 73, Graham ZL3GSL

On the LinkSys you have two aerials and in the software you can select left or right. but which aerial socket is left and which is right ? looking from front or back ?

If this line “option auto no” does not appear in "/etc/config.mesh/network" as shown below, then it is likely the firmware version of bbhn you have loaded is not v3.0.0.

config interface dtdlink

option ifname "eth0.2"

option proto static

option ipaddr

option netmask 255.0.0.0

option auto no

Joe, let me know if you want to try and connect to my server, or, vice versa. email me at k5dlq@arrl.net SM7I, I would like to review your docs once available. Are you using GRE or VTUN?

Travis anything new to report from Wausau? We decided to follow suite in Green Bay. Thanks to an agreement with a local broadcaster, we now have a 180 degree sector antenna on a tower. http://www.k9eam.org/2014/09/green-bay-hams-attempting-to-launch.html

We don't spend a lot of time supporting commercial implementations on this site.. I'd suggest Googling "bandwidth aggregation". Andre, K6AH

kr0siv, I suspect it will be like a few of the other ideas we've had. Still, we need to get this going and maybe it will spark some interest in it; talk only goes so far.

Checking in from Geneva, NE Ohio (Ashtabula County). I have several routers with BBHM and am working on extending the capability to other (more inexpensive and higher quality) hardware. Hope to link with someone, though so far I've had no luck finding interested parties.

I would be very interested in building firmware for the Alfa ap121u.

They are inexpensive, use SMA for the antenna, includes WAN/Wan and PoE port, and is compatible with openwrt. http://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/alfa.network/hornet-ub Not to mention it also runs 12vdc natively and includes an onboard usb port.

I'm curious as to what the process is in developing firmware for BBHN, I know it is based off openwrt. I am fully willing to help with development and risk bricking my hardware to bring another router option to the table.

I've flashed with with openwrt (so yes, I do have the serial hardware needed for reflashing).

I did edit the Linksys node as described. Still no joy.

line number 7 states I should delete a line from the network file. This did not appear in the file.

Yes. The 7940 and 7960 use the same files and configs.

DTD on linksys was disabled in v3.0.0. The linksys ports stop recognizing some devices with dual use of DTD and LAN on the same ports. DTD was disabled as a workaround for now.

To enable:

http://ubnt.hsmm-mesh.org/products/BBHN/wiki/HowTo/Enable%20DTDLINK%20on%20Linksys

If after tuning on DTD, you have a device that linksys stops recognizing, then edit the /etc/vlan file to only include a given port in DTD (vlan2) or in the LAN (vlan0 or untagged), but not both.

I also have a lot of 7960 phones I will be adding to my network. Is the firmware listed here http://www.broadband-hamnet.org/documentation/182-cisco-7940-with-asterisk-raspberry-pi also compatible with the 7960? I'm assuming the procedure will be the same for adding the 7960 to the network as the 7940 shown in the video. Thank you for your help. Andrew

Topic : Network backbone.. point-to-point.

Hello,

I sorry guys to ask this I’m facing a challenging situation here.

We have a small data center where we have servers that host chat services, video and photo sharing platform and various files formats. Kind of intranet network…

We want to build a mesh network in a community which is 15 miles away from our data center.

The solution will be a point-to-point link from our data center or backbone to the small town so mesh users can connect to our network from there…

We need a network approach that can allow us to aggregate multiple wireless connections into a single point to point link and  effectively combining the bandwidth into a single connection.

In fact what we are trying to do is to create multi-gigabit or multi-megabit pipes (in a point to point scenario) to transport traffic back and forth from our data center to the rural area where mesh users can use local resources from our servers.

For example, we want to aggregate three airGrid M2HP of 150Mb data speed (150 mb each) into a 450-megabits trunk link.

I don’t think using one single airgGrid to support bandwidth demand of 2800 mesh users in a point to point design will work….

We need redundant links, fault tolerance or load balancing network.

Can you advise me on what to do to achieve such a setup?

Please feel free to share some literature or a link that can help me educate myself in achieving the above setup…

Thanks..

Data center

Airgrid1-------100Mb---|                                                                         |---Airgrid--|

Airgrid2--------100Mb---|----------------300Mb--------------------------- |---Airgrid--|----Switch--

Airgrid3-------  100Mb---|                                                                        |---Airgrid--|

I have a WRT54G v.2 and mistakenly uploaded the wrong model firmware. Setting it up as a HSMM-Meshnode - I was able to set the nodename - Router rebooted. - Router is visible on the WLAN through its SSID - Router does not issue IP numbers via DHCP (neither wirelessly or through the LAN ports) - I can get into the router into failsafe mode via telnet. - I have Windows 7 computers to work with. Is there a procedure to re-flash the router with the correct image? Thank you in advance- Mike

Hi,

Yes, they can be inserted into /etc/firewall.user as well.

I´m happy to announce that we, in Sweden, has done som extensive testing with a spanish node, as can be seen in the topology by following the link, and have full connectivity not only to BBHN/HSMM mesh network, but also to AMPRnet through the tunneling.

We are also able to route AMPRnet subnets down to a single node if needed.

http://44.140.236.17:8080

Please also note that documentation is being updated with the latest information about NAT issue that might occur in tunneling depending on central solution.

Anybody wanting the documentation addendum is free to contact me.

We are also happy to help you connecting to us in Sweden if you like.

[k5dlq 2014-10-01- 10:09:23]:

question regarding the instructions:

1) Are these lines needed for the forwarding rules (since they are commented in the docs):

iptables -A FORWARD -i $LAN -o tun+ -j ACCEPT

iptables -A FORWARD -i tun+ -o $LAN -j ACCEPT

iptables -A FORWARD -i $WIFI -o tun+ -j ACCEPT

iptables -A FORWARD -i tun+ -o $WIFI -j ACCEPT

2) if they are needed, can they be inserted into /etc/firewall.user instead of /etc/init.d/firewall?
