wb2lfs,
Do you have any additional information on a Just 14 event in the AA area of Maryland?
Thanks

Subject :localnode:8080 does not work ..."...then your DNS settings need adjusting"
Hello,
Perhaps slightly off topic (might be my PC rather than mesh), but nodes that "used to work fine" to connect to localnode:8080 no longer seem to work. I need to enter "localnode.local.mesh:8080". Also (perhaps this restates the same thing), I can no longer 'traverse the mesh' by 'clicking on a neighbor' (I need to enter a specific path). I tried things like reboot the PC, ipconfig /release, ipconfig renew, dnsflush. Network properties seems to show "get DNS from server", etc. My attempts to google did not provide an answer. Linksys wrt54gl nodes, v 1.0 firmware. Thank you for considering. Scott W7SLS

I've just started to play with Ham mesh. When setting up links do any of these devices allow running of bit error rate tests?

Legality of operating multiple nodes and not at station
I'm not sure I understand how a single operator can be in control of multiple AP's from a legality standpoint. This is likely due to my own ignorance. I'm also not sure but can you leave these running even when your not at that station?
Appreciate the help in educating me. |

Hi Peter,
A good place to find linksys routers is on Craigslist, Ebay, & Amazon. When you get your node on the air be sure to post it to the map. I recommend both omni and directional for your antenna setup. Also make sure you talk your ham friends and local ham club into putting up nodes as well. Good luck & 73! James - KH2SR |

http://ngircd.barton.de/index.php.en May help for a manual on the configuration. I'm not sure off hand what custom mods may have been done to the other package off hand. |

Ubiquiti Bullet HP IRC server problems
I have a Ubiquiti Bullet running BBHN 1.0.1. I wanted to load the ngircd package on it. It shows ngircd 15.2 as the version available in the package manager. It appears to have downloaded and installed correctly and I have it setup as an advertised service. However when trying to connect get a connection refused message in the IRC client. I think the problem maybe that there is some additional configuration needed in the ngircd.conf file but I can't find any information on what I need to edit. I believe the latest version on the WRT-54G in ngircd 20.2 and it handles some configuration that the older versions may not. Am I on the right path? Is there any one who can assist me with this? You can also reach me via my email at n7ryn@arrl dot net. Thanks!

I am guessing your in fail safe node to get in without a password? If so you need to run the mount_root command to mount the read write filesystem and view the password. |

Hey Gene, I will circle around the side with you so you have my details. Great news on that progress.
it sounds like the package has installed. You should see a lin "installing" and than the last line "configuring" at this point the package should be installed and should also than show up in the "remove package" list on the Admin page. After that you can install the next package. |

Password reset
I have two WRT54GS units I setup to be node months ago and cannot remember the passwords to get into the setup as I want to upgrade the firmware in them for real deployment. I have checked the /etc/httpsd.conf file and all are set to default root/hsmm but when I enter that it fails. Is there any other way to fix this problem?

IRC (Chat) Software Location?
Hi Conrad this is Gene Swiech (WB9COY) We have a place on top of Qualcomm's highest building (120ft) for a mesh node. It was approved last Friday. Can you help us set things up. All of us are new to Mesh. I would like to use the Ubiquiti. This unit has our chip in it so we might be able to get a lot of low level support.
My email is gene@wb9coy.com
I am trying to get IRChat running on the Ubiquiti Rocket M2. When I uploaded ngircd (ngircd_15-2_ar71xx.ipk) I get a message regarding a zib dependency.
When I try to upload zlib (zlib_1.2.3-5_ar71xx.ipk) it seems like the system hangs because I never receive a message that it installed zlib. It just says configuring ...... with no additional message indicating it installed. |

Hi Steve, There's a group starting up in Oceanside and interest in RB and Escondido. There's also work on an SD County-wide emcomm implementation. Another group has a successful implementation in Dana Point/San Juan Capistrano. I encourage you to start a San Diego or So Cal forum group. Andre, K6AH |

http://broadband-hamnet.org/download/backfire/10.03.1/ar71xx/packages/ It is probably newer because ya much newer operating system. Doesn't likely have any custom mods that may have been done in the OLD version. |
