Topic : Polycom 501 configuration for Asterisk om a mesh net.

Can anyone explain the steps to configure a Polycom 501 phone for use with Asterisk on a mesh net?

I watched the excellent video on installing Asterisk.  Now I just need to figure out how to configure the Polycom 501 to work with it.

Thanks

Fred

Topic : Aligning yagi

I am going to be testing my setup soon and have been thinking about how to align the yagi.  I will be shooting a few miles from a lookout on a mountain down to a point across a river.  I was thinking of attaching a green laser pointer to help with the rough alignment.  At that distance it shouldn't be a hazard to anyone's eyes.

Any comments or suggestions?

What you CAN do is hang a hub/switch off the bullet's RJ-45 and have multiple connections to it (of course split off the PoE injection between the switch and the bullet).

There is a Rocket that has 2 antenna ports on it. Or yes, 2 bullets each pointing their own direction, both connected to a switch.

Topic : Let's build this in the Phila / Southern NJ area

Greetings,

I'm located in the Pottstown area (about 40 miles Northwest of Philly). And while I probably can't contribute directly to the Philadelphia effort, I wanted to make myself known and just say I'm following this development with great interest.

Regards,

Topic : Questions

It may be a little early for questions, but I will ask a few anyway. As I understand it, the "Bullet" has one ethernet port. If I need, at one location, a pbx server, a phone,  and a computer, that would require 4 ethernet ports. Is there a router available that would handle this situation? I can do this with the Cisco router/BBHN node. If I wanted a relay station with 2 dish antennas, would "Bullet" 2 nodes be required? That's just couple for now. I am going to try and sell my local RACES group a package of info showing that this system is needed for EmComm. Thanks for any help.

Topic : Router not able to re-flash

Hi,

If you woluld like you can download from our WWW site firmware for WRT54GS v3. I have use this firmware to reflash my WRTGS v3 from firmware TOMATO to original Linksys firmware:

http://hamnet.ugu.pl/download/WRT54GSv3_4.71.4.001_fw.bin

After rflash to Linksys firmware I have load  BBHN firmware. You can put this firmware via tftp to WRT54. If you have problem with WRT54 bfeore reflash you can use reset with 30/30/30 folow with this link:

I tried Linksys and they do not support my WRT54GS V3, so not able to get the original firmware to be able to re-flash I already have BBHN on the router. Instructions for re-flashing for BBHN firmware is through the setup and I am not able to get into the set up page because the password or ID.

There is a walk through on linksys website on how to recover a bad flash.... I had to do that for 1 of mine because the nvram was corrupt and would not boot.... I ended up using that tool they supply to flash the hsmm file direct and worked very well

Topic : Router not able to re-flash

I have a problem and do not seem to find an answer any where on the net. The router was flashed with the BBHN firmware. Went in and changed the ID and Password and rebooted. Now able to get in to the router but not able to get in to the setup page. It will not take ID or Password.

I want to re-flash the router. All the instructions say to open the Set up page, but if you are not able to get into it then not able to re-flash. I was going to re-flash with Linksys but not able to find the firmware since the router is no longer supported by Linksys. I looked all over and not able to find original firmware.

Any suggestions. I have a router that I can not use reset or re-flash.

Thanks

Hi! Let WRT54 be without power overnight. Try again. I managed to do that and then I come in via "localnode". There, I discovered that OLSR had not started. I typed the node name and password. Made several reboots - And finally it worked I hope this will work for you too.. 73 de Peo SM6SMY

Both I and WTR54GL needed a night's sleep .. After this I could log in, but OLSR did not boot up. After a lot of restarts .. woke up and it works now. Now the next challenge. I want to be able to login via SSH. I have used SSH to my Raspberry Pi (Putty), but I do not reach the WRT54. I saw on a website that I first have to connect via Telnet and create a password - but I did not manage to connect via telnet either. Local Node:8080 works great. 73 Peo SM6SMY

Sounds like you need to check the videos section again and watch another video (starting at 15.00); as that prompt is evidence of extensions not being setup on the pbx.
