Topic : TP-Link video camera node port configuration confusion?

Have you tried 5 host direct, plugging the camera in (with default settings) and pointing your web browser to the assigned IP address of the camera? It should be just as simple as plug-and-play. I will say that there are some things on this website that point or reference the old versions. You can still use the documentation by changing the BBHN node to NAT mode instead of 3 Host Direct.

Topic : TP-Link video camera node port configuration confusion?

Well I created 2 nodes, Node A and Node B which both see each other and I can configure.

On Node A I have my laptop plugged into a LAN port 1.

On Node I have a video camera plugged into a LAN port 1.

Node A addressing was assigned 10.67.65.234 to 238.

Node B addressing was assigned 10.247.84.202 to 206.

On Node B where the camera is I port forwarded each IP address 8100, 8101, 8102 etc. both directions.

In the camera itself I changed the internal IP to 10.247.84.202 port 8100.

Now at the laptop, logged into Node A in the port forwarding area I don't see a lease pop up for the camera for one thing, and if I address that node in Mozilla it wont connect? What am I doing wrong here guys I have tried various port calls from the Node A side, 80, 8080, 8100 etc nothing? Reading some of the write ups I see the addressing 172.x.x.x which I assume was from a previous revision of MESH?

The camera originally had an address of 192.168.1.64 port 80.

Cheers

Mike

Topic : BroadbandHamnet-v1 password bug?

I am using a Windows 7 laptop with WiFi turned off so it doesn't get on another network. I'm connecting the laptop's Ethernet port to one of the LAN ports on the WRT54GL (this is also how I flashed it's firmware). I can see the status of the mesh node with "http://localnode:8080". But I cannot get into Setup with root/hsmm (I did not change the defaults). Not sure of the ramifications of your question, but the laptop has been off and on, and used for other things, since I flashed the firmware on the WRT54GL. I have a screen shot of where I'm stuck, but not sure where to upload that jpeg.

I just completed this process and the password worked just fine for me (on a WRT54G v4). Did you refresh your computer's IP address with a newly supplied IP since flashing the firmware?

Topic : Greetings from western MD

A member of our local Apple User Group has given me a WRT54G v4 that he had still in the shrink-wrap. It was flashed to the HSMM firmware within five minutes of being out of the box. So with that accomplished I have doubled the number of mesh nodes in Hagerstown MD. :) This one will probably end up in the trunk of my car on solar and battery power.

Yes, I have recovered the wrt54g3g. I tftp the modified 0.43 version (header bytes ) then I upgrade it with a local 1.0 file. It is now working fine as a fifth node on my local mesh in Frelsburg Texas. 73s Remi W5/F6CNB

I have BroadbandHamnet-v1 installed on a WRT54GL.  Trying to get into Setup to change the SSID (I assume Setup is where I'll find it).  I'm using root/hsmm and cannot get in.  Has anyone else come across this?

Thanks.

Trying to get a node up on the Delaware County Fair Acres building in Lima, Pa. 19 stories +/- and backup power courtesy of the county ARES. Even with a Linksys it ought to cover several miles. No ETA but general permission has been granted in conjunction with other projects at that location. Maybe before the end of the year.

F6CNB,
Have you tried TFTPing the stock Linksys firmware back to the router, editing the first 4 bytes of the BBHN firmware to match that of Linksys' first 4 bytes of their firmware and uploading it again?

If all fails and you give up, send me an e-mail and I will see about helping you out off-forum.

OK!! Good. I need to update the firmware on my two routers in the next couple of weeks anyways before I can do anything. Will do that after I get back from Microwave Update next weekend. James W8ISS

Hello I am in Windsor but I am only just starting to get a couple of routers working. Once I get this figured out though I would like to try and hook up.

Topic : Connect MESH node to local network

I found my favorite following the 'web links', 'mesh aricles elsewhere' path to come to this article:

http://ohiopacket.org/index.php/Integrating_HSMM-MESH_into_an_existing_network

I still haven't figured out the DNS part, but the routing and forwarding parts were helpful.

One frustrating thing I learned the hard way; you can't get past the firewall from your network, through the node's WAN port, to the mesh LAN-connected computers using this information. You can get to the gateway node, but the WAN firewall has stymied me. There are some other articles on here about modifying that, but I haven't got that far myself.

Any situation where a Node Lan-connected computer is crossing the mesh, into your network to touch a server works ok. I've been experimenting with cameras using a mixed mesh/lan environment.

Good luck.

Jim, I bricked my WRT54G3G-AT during the upgrade from V0.43 to V1.0. The power LED is flashing for ever after a power up. I upgraded 5 WRT54Gs before without problem. All my upgrades were done the same way thru the admin page and an internet connection. 73 Remi W5/F6CNB

Topic : Seting up A node

Hi Tom AF7J  I live in west Ogden I am Trying to set up a Node first experiment , I messed up and Have a Dead Linksys WRT54gl Router it did get flashed with Hsmm-mesh firmware, But I ended up setting it as a Mesh aces point.  I tried to search for Ip by connecting the Ethernet cable to router and got a unfamiliar IP address same with Wireless connection my SSID was AF7J. so I then tried to do a 30/30 reset and it did not work. Then I opened to box of the router and tried to short the router with ground no go. so I got upset and fried my wall wart and then used another 12volt source and ended up seeing smoke on a part on the mother board of the router. The router still gets power but it is not useable, so now I have two WRT54gl routers coming from New Egg.  I have 3 satellite dishes and plan to build a home node with one and a mobile with the second router.

Questions on What to do right and what not to do would be helpful

Thanks Tom_AF7J

What hardware model is it? Include version # please.

I have heard of a couple others that brick on upgrade, and I want to see if its a specific hardware model.

If you have a serial level shifter and can solder, hook up COM1 of the router to a PC and see what the console is doing at power-on.

You do not brick a router by not unplugging it during an upgrade or loading custom firmware where you inadvertently change some settings and lock yourself (or anyone else) out.

As for an address, you find the mesh node on http://172.27.0.1:8080 or http://localnode:8080. For Mesh AP's the address is http://172.27.0.2:8080. In order for you to get a DHCP lease though, you need to plug a Mesh AP into a standard mesh node.

how do you not brick a router Some how mine got Bricked Ie no 8080 or 192.168.1.1 just some kind of loop back ip addresses like 244. or 168. and I ened up frying a 12volt wall wart and fried a chip on my wrt54gl linksys router the only thing that happens now is a blinking power light. May be I should have not changed my SSID on the Router or was it the fact that once I had the firmware installed, I clicked on a dropdown box for it to be a Hsmm-mesh AP?? any Thoughts? I have bought two more Linksys from NewEgg with a no fault warenty
