I've got two nodes loaded with the latest updates but as both my home and office are in rural and relatively flat Florida I don't hold much hope for setting any distance records between my nodes.

What I'd like to do is install a node at home and work with an internet connection and hope to get someone else in the area interested.  

Besides setting the nodes as internet gateways what else should be installed to make them as useful as possible to someone else looking to setup a mesh connection?

I plan to install either one node or both outside with a 5' long Alfa wifi antenna.

I am in the same boat, I just ordered my second WRT54GS so I am going to try to do something with these, So you just plant to plug the Alfa into the WRT? I was wondering what kind of antenna to use, have you tried this setup yet?

Just getting started here. i have two nodes sep in my house for the time being so i can do testing with applications and such. is there a suggestedlist of applications and/or operating systems available? Iwould like to get moving on this and have someting to show others i the area and get mode nodes active, Any information and assistance is appreciated. Tim KD5CKP
