A google search helped me find the hsmm-pi project, which I downloaded and installed.  After configuration, I could see my other nodes, but could not connect to them.  Then I remembered that my nodes with the BBHN 3.x firmware cannot talk to nodes with the older HSMM firmware.

Another google search showed me there is also a bbhn-pi project.  I downloaded and installed this onto the same Pi.  I was hoping it would come up as a BBHN node, but after every reboot, it still identifies as HSMM-Pi.

My Linux skills are not that good.  Are there steps I can take to disable the hsmm-pi scripts so the bbhn-pi scripts can run?  A google search did not find the answer to this question.

Maybe the bbhn-pi installation steps should include removing or disabling the hsmm-pi scripts/functions.

Is there anything I can do in the current state or do I need to start over with a fresh Raspian SD?

I suggest using a text editor to open up the install.sh script in the hsmm-pi and bbhn-pi folders and see if there is anything that matches between the two scripts and then follow along that line. With your post, this is the first I have heard of a bbhn-pi setup. Will check it out and see what differences there are also on my systems. Have hsmm-pi on a lubuntu 14.04 laptop and a pi. On the laptop, it does not even start as far as I can tell. James W8ISS

I have a pocket case that holds 8 micro-SD cards and have just collected a bunch. On my older models I use a low-profile adapter to run a micro in the SD slot. Any time I try something new on a Raspberry Pi I start with a fresh install of the latest Raspbian. I stick with Raspbian because there are so many forums and users that it is easy to find answers when you need them. I have several 4GB Micro-SD cards that I format and install Raspbian. That way I can just add whatever package I want to play with. Since 4GB and 8GB cards are so cheap now, I don't see any reason to complicate things by putting too much on them. This also means I can swap from one project to another just by swapping the card. I also try to keep hardware (USB hub, wifi adapter, etc.) the same on the several RPi set ups that I keep around to play with. My $.02, refunds available on request... Dave, W6DPS

I ended up putting the BBHN code on a new SD card. It worked.
