Anyone still around? I have three Linksys routers, that I have mostly used for testing and playing around. I have thought of moving to AREDN, but my priority for all new equipment is pretty low...

Seriously - BBHN was a great start to ham radio networking. But time marches on. The AREDN code supports three different brands across four different ham bands now, over 50 different products. Plus they're all POE, outdoor (weatherproofed) products, and support MIMO (multiple input/multiple output) - for any given SNR a MIMO device will give you double the throughput. Most have built-in gain antennas and they all have about 10 dB higher power output than the WRTG product line.

Topic : BBHN Vital Signs?

I've only been mildly into BBHM so far.  Recently started tinkering with my two nodes again.  Came here for help.  This forum kind of looks like a ghost town, only two posts here this year (so far).  Is BBHN dead or is there another forum elsewhere with more activity?

Topic : BBHN Bridge to Buffalo NAS

I’ve got two mesh nodes up and running on a pair of Linksys routers.  They see each other fine and are running normally.  The primary router is connected to a Win7 PC and the secondary router is connected to a Buffalo NAS device.  My intent is to use the NAS box for additional storage space for the PC but putting the secondary router and NAS box in another building about 100 ft away.  (Right now they are a few feet apart while I get it working)

The secondary router status page shows the NAS device has been given an IP address via DHCP.  I’ve added a port forward to the secondary router for port 9000 (used by the NAS box).

I’m still lacking something as my discovery program running on my PC can’t find the NAS box.

Would one of you kind soles be willing to give me some pointers on how to properly set this up?

Thanks

Jim, I've moved my node but you must not have received my emails. New location is 39.428240,-84.484220. Nothing else changes. jsb KD8REK

Sorry about the multiple copies...I kept hitting 'submit' but nothing seemed to be happening.

Need to remove N9MXQ-Gate from the map. Dumping all my Mesh gear. Couldn't find a way to do it on the map page.

Topic : Tunneled Mesh in Oregon

No - still have not. I am running some Linksys wrt54g routers in a mesh. I have a tunnel server and a tunnel client. I cannot get the client to connect to the server. I am behind a firewall and have done port forwards on the router to the tunnel server. I do not have a static IP here. If you are still around and would like to mentor me some I am very open to help. kevin/NB7O

Based on http://www.broadband-hamnet.org/hsmm-mesh-forums/view-postlist/forum-1-general/topic-667-olsr-status-page-not-working.html I went to Setup then Port forwarding and added an entry to forward port 1978 to localnode and local port 1978. This fixed it for me.

Topic : New Node setup - UBNT AirGrid M2 or M5

Hi There,

I recently found out about BBHN and decided to give it a try. I opted out for Ubuquiti hardware just not sure on type. On the suported hardware list it says BBHN supports AirGrid M2(2.4Gh) and M5(5Ghz). Can I use the 5Ghz for the benefit of less signal interference or I have to stick with AirGrid M2 for 2.4Ghz

Thanks,
