Problem withwrt54gs v2 after successfully  installing and completing the setup K9UXW-1 I was browsing the wifi scan and after that I walked away for awhile and when I came back I could not get the ethernet connection.  It said invalid ip. It shows up on wifi ok. Any suggestions? If I was near another unit they could maybe connect and solve any problems.

I read somewhere that the 20 MHz xtal could be changed to 19.6608 MHz to move more channels into the ham band and avoid interference with shared "channels".

I only see two xtals on the circuit board: 25.000 and 48.000 MHz.

I have not removed the shield cover.  Is it under the shield?

Any info you can provide on this mod will be appreciated.

As a new HAM I'm still learning a lot.  I am weak mastering knowledge in so many areas but trying.

I have set up my node using a Linksys WRT54G.  It is confirmed flashed and ready to roll.  I'm about to put it up on my chimney next to my dual band antenna (2m/70cm) which extends about a foot or two above the chimney crown.  I was planning on attaching the linksys on the top of my chimney mounted vertically with a box around it that is sealed (but large enough for the captured air to to insulate.  It might have a door so I can access the unit or I might just have to cut around the sealant when I need to get to it.  It shouldn't be exposed to very much sunlight in the summer so i'm not too worried about overheating since it won't be processing data all the time.

I am powering the unit via ethernet with A/C power pigtails on both ends of the ethernet Cat7 so I won't be running any extension power cord to the unit.  Two of the unused channels in the ethernet cable will run the power to power to the unit. I'll plug in the 12-volt converter at shack end of the line so I'll only have 12 volts running through the ether.  This way only the ethernet cat7 cable will connect from shack to node.

My question is about an antenna.  I understand that the two Linksys WRT54G's antennas are specifically designed for one to transmit and one to receive.  If that is the case, can I just use a duplexer to blend the signal and route it through the box (sealed penetration) and run that short single coax into a mag mount 2.4GHz antenna a top the metal chimney crown?  I am close enough to two other nodes (about a mile away and line of sight) so I believe they will communicate without a directional beam antenna. I am pretty high in NW Austin so I think my signal can be picked up pretty easily.

Side note, if there are any node owners in the NW Austin area around Oak Knoll/Jollyville/183, content me please. I'd like to talk about the signal strength as I set this up.  I can be contacted at ham@texcode.com

The WRT54G I have shows version 6 on the case, but when I log into the control panel it shows version 1.1

I have successfully installed HSMM-MESH firmware on a WRT54 GL and a GS.

Since I have a WRT54G v6, and while I understand this is not a candidate for HSMM firmware, I thought that DD-WRT would be nice to have. It will not accept the DD-WRT firmware for a V6...

Now I don't know what I have. Which version do I believe?

Perhaps the firmware selection of the MICRO+ OLSRD versus the MICRO package was too large. At this point I thought it would be wise to ask if anyone else has had this problem before I brick a free router...  :>)

I bricked my first WRT54GL, not even sure how, but not a big deal.

I have a WRT54GS on the way, but the question is what to do with the two antenna ports.

The plan is to remote the box on the tower and use a short coax run to a pair of coaxial collinear verticals... if two of them is even a good idea. Perhaps one is better. Can the Broadband-Hamnet firmware disable one of the antennas?

BTW, a saw a question regarding the connectors on the WRT54, while cruising around Digikey looking for parts for a packet modem, I did find BNC pc mount connectors that will replace the RP-TNC connectors.

Could not send message to Webmaster due to SMTP Server Connection error.  I have tried multiple times.  My network connections are working and I have email via Microsoft Office 365 servers.

Is this a know problem or just a temporary issue?

So I'm brand new to MESH, long time interest but finally getting around to ordering hardware (just ordered 2 WRT54GS routers, yes versions are within 1-3)....

Here's what I'm needing...

I have two river properties directly across the river from each other.  The western property (8 acres) has the house and satellite internet access (which sucks since it is so slow, but it's the only thing available).  The eastern property (7 acres) is a nice pasture.  I'm needing internet access at the eastern property but the distance is about 1750' from the house internet wireless router.

So, would it be best to install a MESH system at the eastern property OR would something else be better?

I'm needing to install a medium quality 4k surveillance system on the eastern property in order to monitor the eastern property for trespassing (Im tired of people coming onto my property and tearing the place up, littering, partying, etc).  I'm looking for a 4k video surveillance system that's capable to "pushing" activity notifications to my cellphone so that anytime I get a notification I can either investigate the possible trespass situation or I can call someone to look into it if I'm not in town.

If I get suggestions of installing something other than the MESH does anyone know of a 4k surveillance system that has some sort of integrated internet access that I can install with the surveillance system?

I plan to run power at the eastern property using a small LiFePo4 battery (automotive size) charged with a single solar panel.

Really hoping that someone can help me with this.  I need this system to be installed by April 2020.

New to HSMM-Mesh and looking to buy some equipment.  Just purchased 2 Linksys WRT54GS v 1-3s and hope to have them in hand later this week.

Looking for a gently used  TP-Link 24dBi parabolic dish antenna for my system so if anyone have one for sale or an extra one they dont need plz let me know.  You can reach me at my call-sign at gmail.com.

I've installed the urlgrey/hsmm-pi repository from GitHub on two PI zero W's that I have and have been using my little network for a year or so.

My PI's are running Raspbian stretch lite, but I suspect that buster would work fine, too.

I've installed the PI's as headless and ssh in through the USB interface from my home network computers (all Linux or BSD).

Try reflashing with .trx file NOT the .bin file
