A bit moren details please on the layout, Ubiquiti or Linksys ? Mode (Direct or NAT) saying the advertisement does to show up even on the local node it's set on correct ? You can get (from a remote node) to the node that has the advertised service by name but can't get to a name that's reserved on that node for a local system ?

Accessing mesh node status through conventional router?
Hey, thanks for the reply and apologies for the delayed reply on my part. I've been just swamped lately and this new gizmo isn't quite my highest priority. I was connecting LAN to LAN ports before. When I switched to the WAN port on the Mesh node, it did indeed become visible through my WiFi router.
And as soon as I brought up the local node's status page, it showed connection to another mesh node, parked out in the garage. But as you indicated, if I try to daisy-chain my way on over to that distant node, it can't be reached. And I think I understand why, now.
Thanks again for the reply. Benton 7jul14 -- KF7QLP benton@siletzbay.com |

Do I even need to be doing this to provide an internet gateway? Is it a matter of just using LAN and wifi and not using WAN?

See why we broke away 200+ years ago :-) Is there no part of the 2.4 band y'all can use? Let us know specifics, as many more will want to know

FYI-
The MD5 checksum for the new 1.1.0 firmware doesn't match for this file: <http://www.broadband-hamnet.org/download/firmware/link/bbhn-1.1.0-wrtsl54gs-2.4-squashfs.bin> Multiple download attempts yields the same result. All other files checksum OK.

1.1.0 DNS Propagation
Good Afternoon Everyone, So I went ahead and updated some of my nodes to the new 1.1 firmware. I seem to have hit a snag, or at least I think I have. After I set everything backup as far as the advertised services on the node that is attached to a server and rebooted the node, I find that when I goto the Mesh Status page that those services are not being advertised on the mesh status page. Additionally, the DNS resolution for the name of the server (as set by the static IP address) doesn't seem to be working either. I am able to get to other upgraded nodes by their names but nothing that is attached to them. Suggestions? Thoughts? What did I do wrong/break? Thanks in advance, 73, Travis W9HDG |

Mesh in the UK
I managed to find out some information in relation to this. A portion of the 13cm/2.3GHz band in the UK is now no longer available. Information is available here: http://rsgb.org/main/operating/band-plans/microwaves/spectrum-release/ The part which is no longer available included the band that is needed for the mesh. This frequency has the allocation for 1000kHz bandwidth that the high speeds require. http://www.md0mdi.com/rsgb-band-plan-13cm/ I have looked into the 6cm/5.7GHz band, but I have been unable to find any information that shows how much bandwidth is allocated for each frequency within the band. Jack. |

I have a Bullet M2 with 1.0.1 loaded. The 1.1.0 upgrade does not appear in the "Download firmware" list after hitting refresh.
Not a huge deal, because I can download it to my Mac, and upload it, but, wanted to mention the isssue.
Thx, K5DLQ - Darryl

BBHN 1.0.0 bin Files
Hi Mark, great point, and we will be restoring links to the older files shortly. With the new release, I wanted to keep confusion to a minimum for those just coming in. Im working on a better structure to have archives available, while making it easy to find whats needed.

How we used HSMM-MESH™

combining 5ghz with 2.4ghz
This will depend on what your network layout is. If you are just linking between bands (a 2.4 and a 5.8) a jumper cable between the two will work. If you are just combining multiple nodes at once (3 or more nodes) without internet at the site than you can just use a standard non vlan aware switch. If you intend the nodes to act as MeshGW's than you will need a VLAN capable switch for pulling out the "WAN" port of the Ubiquiti device. |

With the release of BBHN 1.1.0, what happened to the 1.0.0 files? I know they're not compatible with each other but there is still a need to support existing networks.
