Virtual Tunnel Previews
As AE6XE (Joe) mentioned in another thread, we are close to releasing the vtun-based virtual tunnel server and client scripts. Here's a sneak peek into the two new admin pages in the GUI...

vlan w/ubnt EdgeRouter-PoE-5 (it works)
For those looking for an alternative to the Netgear switches for vlan access to a ubunt node... I have configured the EdgeRouter-PoE-5 to work with the vlan feature of bbhn v3.0.0 and it was actually quite simple.
Add a vlan in the router GUI with an address on some arbitrary private network. I used 192.168.9.1/24 Configure the node WAN settings for another address on that same network (I used 192.168.9.2) and then set the gateway to the router's plan address (192.168.9.1 in my case) and the net mask to 255.255.255.0 Reboot the node That's it. |

New VPN hub coming up
The bbhn beta test team has been testing a packaged server and client tunnel capability integrated in the bbhn setup screens. Darryl K5DLQ is making this happen with contributions from a few of us. We're working through one issue in testing the linksys implementation--ubnt is working well. This is not far off from being made available (a month?) and ultimately part of the bbhn release. SM7I, let's snyc up separately to exchange an early version and figure out if there are any options to inter-operate? However, this is a vtun implementation. |

Good evening SM7I,
Looks like you and several other hams in your area has got the tunneling down path. Do you have anything in print on how you did it because I would like to set up a tunnel with a fellow node in the next state to me. Any help would be great...
Thanks In advance, Steve "W4WWS" |

Johan SM7I's method can be found at: http://www.old.barriearc.com/Files/Establishing_GRE_Tunneling_Between_v0.4.3_Broadband-Hamnet_Nodes.pdf
This is a bad link that goes no where, does anyone have a copy of this any where?

Streaming audio across MESH nodes?
Sounds like a similar situation which I ran into while working on streaming video over BBHN. Probably a little bit easier to stream audio than video.
Which version of RPi do you have? A or B? Have you tested the streaming audio using a regular ethernet switch to connect the RPi server to a client computer?

Has anyone found something like this for the BBHN?
Dear Conrad,
thanks for the information... I will have to re read what you sent a few times to
really understand it. I guess what I was really trying to get at is that there seems
to be no end of information to get the equipment up and the BBHN established. But once
that is pretty well on it's way... What do I do with all this capability...I have IRC
chat on my Local node advertised to the BBHN... but it was met with very limited enthusiasm. Other that viewing my one page website and running around the nodes to
look at signal strengths...and the IRC CHAT on the BBHN... There is nothing to do...
So, I guess I am fishing to find out what others are using this thing for and maybe
one of their applications will catch on here.
Take care and have fun... Life is a MESH!

Link from N2TY repeater site? To where?
Hi Folks: Just getting into this BBHN thing and think that it is pretty neat. As noted in my other post in this forum I have set a few of these up around the house to see how they work, and have begun to get to understand a few things. I would be very interested in a connection to the N2TY repeater site, as I think that would be line of site for me.
Currently I have (2) WRT54G V1.1, (1) Raspberry Pi running HSMM-Pi as a gateway, and (1) Ubiquity Nanostation.
All running and working on the BroadbandHamnet-20-v3 SSID.

WRT54Gs ver 1.0 bug on 1.1.2 mesh upgrade
To my knowledge and all the reports I have seen it is not an issue in a default install of 3.0.0 and above. Everyone I have seen comment on it says that it works.
