bridge from aitmax 5ghz to mesh 2.4 node???
would the simple solution. A couple of us are trying to get a count wide network up to support emergency services ( and just the fun of it).
We have at least 15 nodes, but no back bone build YET. We hope to link my QTH to a relay station near health department then get the redress, hospital and law center (EOC) up. My inventory includes PBX (ATA and IP phones, file server, D-Rats and a couple more applications). we have cameras and access to sites.
so basically we are really just waiting for the next version.

Our upcoming release supports a seamless, cross-band, OLSR mesh... You only need connect the nodes back-to-back with a CAT5 cable So you may want to reconsider your bridging approach.

Oh, thanks Robert, but Frank, K0FEI, just tested the PicoStation and confirmed it's supportability for us. The M2 will be supported in our upcoming release.

Andre, I have several Ubiquiti PICO M2HP units and would like to participate in the testing of the new FW. Sorry I did not see this earlier - was on vacation.

I downloaded the Byzantium iso last night and it looks like a straight forward bootable mesh node now to figure out how to get it to talk with BBHM.

Accessing mesh node status through conventional router?
Last weekend I was able to re-flash a WRT54G3G-AT and two -STs. (Thanks very much to whomever posted the info on modifying the binary file's 'magic number' (the initial bytes of the file) to fix the 'signature' the re-flash utility was looking for. When I have the mesh node connected directly to my laptop computer via lan cable, I can visit the node's status and setup pages, and from there visit other nodes in the mesh. I then plugged one of the nodes directly into an open lan-port on my service providers WiFi router (a Westell unit provided with Frontier/Verizon FiOS) but find no matter what I try, can't now get to the mesh node, even coming into the Westell on a wired lan line from my desktop computer. I've logged into the Westell's admin server and run all the 'discovery' scans that looked reasonable. Do I need to have the mesh nodes use the Westell for their DHCP server? Should the mesh nodes themselves show up in the Westell's tables or only additional IP gizmos (IP Cameras, etc) plugged into the mesh nodes? Any help appreciated -- Benton 17jun14 KF7QLP

WRT54G3G-ST
Wish I'd found this thread (and the other that listed the 'magic' for the -AT and -ST routers) two weeks ago. Was at SeaPac for the Mesh workshop, but couldn't get any traction with the vanilla WRT54G3G binary file to install.
With the right characters in place for the first four bytes, for the two flavors of router, was able to re-flash this weekend and now have three nodes talking to each other.
My editor pref is emacs' hexl mode.
Can someone link that other thread, the one that includes the four bytes for the these models, to this thread? I tried finding it again, but no joy. (Is there a search facility for the forums?)

Cannot connect to newly flashed WRT54G
Had a similar experience this weekend, flashing a couple WRT54G3G-xTs for my first experience. The Linksys' web-server seemed very fussy. Finally noticed a huge amount of traffic was being reported by ifconfig (I'm using Xubuntu on a Dell laptop) -- like 4 TB, with a similarly huge number of collisions, etc.
Hangup survived over laptop suspend/resume cycles.
Finally did a full reset of the laptop and all was better.

USB Key deployment?
Hi, Sean;
I've tried Byzantium, which uses a usb bootable Linux called Porteus. It uses OLSR, so it might be easy to configure for compatibility with BBHN. I'd be interested in any success you have with this idea.
