Ken,
Just go to the Administration page after pressing the [Setup] button on the home page. In the Firmware Update section, hit [Refresh], wait for the update, and then select the WRT54G or WRT54GL firmware file to download, depending on your hardware. Hit [Download] and wait for the unit to do its thing. :)

Ubiquity Bullet M2 vs Bullet 2
Some information about the older Picostations was put into the system. However support for them wont be known until testers come forward to actually test them. The old PicoStations do appear have enough ram/flash on first glance, but they may also use a different cpu which we have not been producing firmware for yet (however it may be possible to produce firmware for them) Whenever a new device comes up it needs to be tested, and that means users with hardware willing to load untested firmware on the device and work with the dev team to make it a supported device.
Never a guarantee anything will work until it has been tested for real, only probabilities and hunches.

I believe this is referring to a page on my website. I have made a couple of corrections and I believe the instructions are now correct. Thanks for letting me know of the error and sorry for the confusion. Clint, AE5CA |

I saw some posts and noticed there is some activit on GIT for the picostation2 HP. Someone said they are like the bullets with only some differences. Is this going to be supported no the M version but just the Picostation 2.
Thanks,

Raspberry Pi & HSMM Mesh
I have found two things that help when installing HSMM-Pi.
First is the WiFi adapter used. I use the ALFA AWUS036N with good results. Other WiFi adapters seem to be hit or miss.
Second, I have had the easiest time when I do a fresh install on a cleanly formatted SD card. I immediately do an "update" and "upgrade". I only install packages the I will use on that node, and keep those to a reasonable configuration.
When I did encounter an install that had issues like not being able to connect, I formatted the card and started over, and had no problem on the next try. I have started doing a low-level erase and format any time I install an OS for the Pi.
I have been successful in installing GPSD and getting NTPD to use the GPS as the time source. I then can share the NTP server on the mesh. I have also been able to share HTML and other documents using the Apache2 server that is part of HSMM-Pi.
In general with the Pi, a better quality SD card works better. A class 4 card is adequate, but it seems the better cards perform better. I use class 8 or 10 now, and have no problems with read/write errors.
My two cents worth, refunds available on request.

Revert BBHN back to Factory/Other Firmware
Hi group, So I have looked all over and can find no information on reverting one of my WRT54G routers back to its former firmware version. Are there any instructions for accomplishing this task??? Even reverting back to factory firmware and then I can reflash to something else would be fine. Thoughts, hints, kinks, etc..... Thanks, Ken

No, it is on a webpage that comes up just about first in the Google search engine. Pretty good article with pictures, but there are a couple of little steps left out. Nothing hard to figure out. However, the Localhost vs. Localnode was what took so long. Out of courtesy I don't want to post the page url here. I will send him a pm and tell him about the edit. If you want the url, pm me and I will send it to you.

Still very excited about learning this stuff. This, along with building, is more of what I thought ham radio should be. Just plain old experimenting and fun!

Generated and uploaded SSH key...cannot connect?
Found the problem. The online directions I was following said to enter "localhost" when using PUTTY and a SSH KEY to gain access to the router. I never could get it to work with "localhost" but when I tried "localnode" it worked! Just took me three hours (and many different troubleshooting steps) to figure it out. But...I am learning! Does anyone know how to get PUTTY's logging feature to work? Not that important, but I was trying to use the log to diagnose this problem, and never could get it to log any data. Now on to the next challenge. 73's KC4OJS

Generated and uploaded SSH key...cannot connect?
I am using the latest version of Broadband Hamnet firmware. I can access my router through the normal password. However, I am attempting to add a SSH key using PUTTYgen from a Windows XP machine. The directions I have found online are not working. I can get my public key to load, but when I try to connect with PUTTY....the connection i refused. Anyone had any experience? I sure could use some help. Thanks

Try turning off the other networking interfaces on your PC. This is confusing the DNS process on your PC. |

WRT54G Ver 1.0 firmware update issue
Ok, just wanted to be sure you didn't have a version 5 to 8 model sneak in on you. And to be sure, you are updating from HSMM-Mesh 0.4.3 or earlier, not the original Linksys firmware? I'm presuming this is an update from our earlier firmware so... first off, please don't go changing the extension - it won't help. Any updates
from previous versions of HSMM-Mesh/BBHN firmware is done with the genuine .trx
file. PERIOD! The .bin files are used strictly for first time loads into the original
Linksys firmware as they have the necessary header bytes to identify the model for
Linksys's loader. Once the HSMM-MESH/BBHN firmware has been installed the router
has be new loader and will not accept .bin files. If connecting the WAN port to your home network and updating via the Internet and the Administration page doesn't work then you have three options: - manually download the .trx file and upload it via the Administration page on your router.
- scp the .trx file to /tmp on your router, then ssh into the box and issue the command 'reflash'.
- Try the tftp procedure in 'http://www.broadband-hamnet.org/documentation/72-installing-firmware-with-tftp.html'

10GHz hsmm?
There has been a topic floating around on the [Mw] reflector for the past few days about utilizing the 10GHz band for HSMM linking.
The last most of us there know about was the N6GN work roughly 25 years ago: http://www.k3pgp.org/Notebook/Gunnplexers/N6gn/10ghzdata.htm
Would anybody be interested in trying to revive this project and modernize it for today's usage? Would need to probably redesign how it interfaces with an ethernet card.

I didn't make it down as I had hoped this year.
What was the outcome down there?
