HamChat Server
We've just installed HamChat on one of our local mesh Nodes.
The node is a Ubiquiti Bullet M2 (V3.1.0) and the server is working well.
We've edited the .pl script to add the timestamp function.
We get the time from NTP and that all seems to be working fine.
What we are unable to get working are the changes to the Styles.css file.
We want to reduce the size of the timestamp font and change its color.
All changes we make are ignored.
Not sure if we're missing something.
We installed the HamChat package from the online package server.
V 0.1
Thanks for any help. |

I have a WRT54g node active in Mission Hills and another setup for mobile. At the moment I'm still on the stock antennas, but I plan to put an omni up high and a directional once there's another node to point it at. Unfortunately, I didn't see any nodes on the map that are likely to be within range. |

OpenWRT AA and BB with channels between 2312-2407 Mhz
I'm looking into the usefulness of re-crystalled WRT54s, to operate below 2400MHz According to this German article (translated) it looks straight-forward. It appears similarly-mod'ed units will interoperate, but raises questions as to its working with NS2 or TL-WN722, or other unit in expanded frequency mode through software.
http://www.rlx.lu/~lx1tb/wrt54gs/
I suspect that scaling 20MHz clock to the WRT54 Wifi radio chip (BCM2050) will also change the OFDM inter-carrier spacing (nominally 312.5kHz) and other parameters; unless these can be compensated by firmware changes. From what I read, OFDM frequency error needs to be substantially less than the spacing, and TX-RX inter-carrier spacing the same. Does anyone have additional knowledge/experience with this?
For anything which can be properly frequency scaled, the channel centre frequency should fall very close to 23x2 or 23x7MHz eg. 2362.0; I believe within 100kHz or better. That limits the choice of crystals. I was thinking of 19.440MHz instead of 19.6608 (which is a baud-rate crystal and not likely to be as accurate/stable), or another common OTS crystal 19.200MHz, but none of the 13 new frequencies "lands" close enough to target. Frequency synthesizer was tried by author above but jitter rendered the link unusable. I suppose a low-jitter PLL design is possible, if designed carefully.
So far I have not found a detailed spec for the BCM2050 online, to understand better how it works. Can someone point to suitable documentation?

New Node in Albany NY now on air
Dave, I got the AirGrid up on the roof yesterday and have it aimed (best I can muster) towards K2ALB-CENTRAL. My pessimism was rewarded, and it doesn't look like I'll be able to establish a link from my home QTH. I'm going to leave it up for a few days (as I'm not too hot to get right back on the roof) but I don't think the situation will change.
I may talk with the TARA Board and see if they'd be willing to arrange space on the Troy water tower in exchange for me donating the equipment to the club. A link between Troy and Albany would be a great start for a mesh network in our area. 73 Mike K2MTS

Password recovery on Ubiquiti Bullet M2HP
I am glad that you able to get into your friends node. A TFTP flash is almost as easy as uploading from the web interface. For the person who finds this thread in the future, I wanted to mention that there is a feature in the UBNT firmware to reset the password. With the node powered up press the reset button, either on the device or the POE injector, for 5 seconds and the password is reset to hsmm. Press the reset button for 15 seconds and the node will be reset to a just flashed state. Hopefully this will help. Clint, AE5CA |

You can find TFTP procedures though a google search. Search for "TFTP Firmware Ubiquiti," and click on the link titled "Firmware Recovery - Ubiquiti Wiki." It will take you here: http://wiki.ubnt.com/Firmware_Recovery
I hope this gets you pointed in the right direction! Let us know if you need any additional support. |

I can see K7DMK-N13 from south Scottsdale, with a NanoStation M2 (WX4LTG-NSM2). Link quality isn't all that great, but the NanoStation isn't really built for an eighteen-mile link.
Are there any 5.8GHz links at that site? I'm debating picking up an Airgrid M5 and aiming it that direction, and re-aiming the NanoStation back to the south. |

They are basically a split off from Broadband-Hamnet. Refer to the home page of this site and read the news articals "Moving Forward" and "Apology"
That will detail a bit more of what happened. |

There looks to be a new group online now or at least new to me called AREDN that is based on a like idea of Broadband- hamnet. Does any one have any knowledge of this group How is it the same or differnt? http://www.aredn.org/

I am in East Portland. As much interest and people there are in this area, the amount of nodes are few and far between making it difficult to connect to people. Yeah I am looking at bigger antennas and watching for more nodes that are closer |

Tunneling attempt at a standstill
I ended up getting a static IP for my home router. It was a private network. It is working now. Another issue now is some of the nodes time out. Some nodes on his end are accessible and some aren't. All the same version. Any pointers on that?

[k5dlq 2015-04-24- 09:58:53]: Easy way to test if traffic is getting thru to your server node is to use telnet to your server's DNS (from the client network).
telnet myserver.dyndns.org 5525 Trying myserver.dyndns.org... Connected to myserver.dyndns.org. Escape character is '^]'. VTUN server ver 3.X 11/17/2014 <----------- if you see this line, it is forwarding correctly.

Its a free on line tool, time limited to 20 minutes and number of sites limited. Once you get the hang of it can be quite useful.

I read the article. Thank you for posting it. Just a quick question: What program was used for the propagation projections shown in the article? |

Yeah so I am I been a frustrating week at work however an overall successful week on the moving mesh stuff forward. Now I can start connecting some other stuff to it again. |
