I think the amp is dead. I ordered 2 complete sets of all the above equipment. I was trying to setup a link between two points. The TX light on the inverter and amp on the mast do not flash nearly as often as the one I haven't installed as of yet. So I got an RMA for the defective one. I just have to crawl my butt back up on the roof to replace one with the other. I'd open it up if I couldn't send it back. Sorry

The ip linked to your mail server is on a blacklist with BACKSCATTERER, and my exchange server doesn't like that. I'll send it through gmail & see if that works.

Check out: http://www.mxtoolbox.com/

Put in your domainname k5ktf.com, click lookup, and then click "Blacklist Check" by mail.k5ktf.com

Hopefully you can contact them, and get it removed as a bunch of mail servers check the blacklists.

Hello all,

I finally installed my 15 db antenna and a 4w amp. I'm not getting the type of signal that I expected even in line of sight. When I tested everything before the install I was getting a Signal of 10 to 14 on my wardriving app. Now after the install I have a signal of 68 to 78 only 40ft away LOS. The power light is on the amp and the TX light flickers. When I tested on the ground I didnt have the lighting arrester yet.  I have a wrt54gl pigtail to the dc injector, 30ft of lmr400 to the amp, 2ft lmr400 to lightning arrester, 2ft lmr400 to antenna. The antenna is here http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0046CBR3W/ref=oh_details_o02_s00_i00 . The amp is http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003B09GBU/ref=oh_details_o03_s00_i00 .

Lost,

Steve

KC7NEC: I followed your instructions and setup a TS3 Server. Got the server up and running. I can login using localhost on the pc with the serve on it. I cannot however connect using another computer connected to the mesh. Could it be a windows7 homegroup issue? Thanks

Sure thing!

Do a google search for biquad dish feed and you should find Trevor Marshall's page with designs.

UDR56K-4 New Product Release

Posted on May 18, 2012

For Immediate Release

NorthWest Digital Radio Announces New Universal Digital Radio at Hamvention® 2012

Dayton, OH – NW Digital Radio introduced the UDR56K-4 Universal Digital Radio at the annual gathering of Amateur (Ham) Radio enthusiasts. The radio, which has been designed to support digital data and digital voice needs of both amateur radio emergency service teams and digital radio experimenters The radio will support data rates from 4800-56K+ bps with selectable modulation methods including GMSK, FSK, and 4FSK. The UDR56K will operate in the 70cm band (420-450 mHz.) at up to 25 watts.

Bryan Hoyer (KG6GEU), President of NW Digital Radio said, “The UDR56K is a radical departure from legacy commercial radio offerings and brings a new, open platform, to the Amateur Radio community by providing a stable, integrated, software managed radio for digital communications combined with a tightly integrated Linux based computing platform in a compact package.”

The radio, which measures 4×6 inches and is topped with an eye-catching red colored heat sink, has none of the usual knobs, dials, buttons, or switches. It has one Ethernet jack, four host USB ports, power, and antenna connections. All radio functions are controlled by software, using either a web browser interface or custom application.

NW Digital Radio has already integrated the Radio Messaging System (RMS) and D-STARi gateway and controller software. They are also in talks with noted software developers to provide additional digital radio protocols and applications on the UDR56K platform. Common Linux applications are easily installed using package management tools or may be compiled for the radio. Some applications of interest to the amateur radio community have already been tested, such as AX.25 networking, gpsd, Xwindows, bluetooth integration, wireless 3G/4G broadband, USB sound, and others.

“As we have talked to amateur radio operators, who are interested in digital communication for emergency communication or the development of new protocols, vocoders, and networks, there has been universal excitement for the UDR56K,” according to John Hays (K7VE), Director of Marketing. Mr. Hays further noted that “Many have said, ‘can we pay now, to be at the front of the line?’”

Mr. Hoyer added, “We think we have a winner in this design, and anticipate a series of new products from our company. We want to build on the resurgence of ‘do it yourself’ activity. We will put the Amateur back in Amateur Radio!”

This device is not offered for sale, pending certification and approval by the FCC.

The UDR56K-4 has an anticipated release in the 4th Quarter of this year, with a target MSRP of $395.

Try http://NODENAME.austin.tx.us.mesh:8080 See if adding the fully qualified domain name (the .austin.tx.us.mesh) helps. Put the full nodename-ssid at NODENAME

If THAT works, then:

go into network settings, find your NIC adapter, right click-- properties.

scroll down to TCP/IP networking, again, go into its properties

go to Advanced settings, DNS tab

There should be a radio button that says Append these DNS suffixes (in order). Click it, then add "austin.tx.us.mesh" (without quotes), and then OK all the way out and try again with just NODENAME:8080.

Topic : Can access 172.27.0.1:8080 but cant access mesh

Hi all:

I am new to networking and mesh.  I flashed 2 wrt54G routers sucessfully.  When I type in the IP address, I get my N7FV-1 page and can view who is on the mesh, setup pages, wireless scan ect.  What I cannot do is click on somebody (N7FV-2) in the mesh list and get into them.  I also cannot access the OLSR page.   I am using Windows 7 Home edition.   I have tried Google Chrome and Firefox both to no avail.   This is a new problem, I was able to access both right after I flashed the routers.  I Have tried connecting to both routers and used different cables also.  The fact that I get the same problem on both routers leads me to believe it is a PC/Browser issue.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

N7FV

I think SAMC is on the tunnel. I am not exactly sure where on the building the node is located. I believe this may be it. I have also been told that SAMC has horizontal polarization.

According to http://wisp.heywhatsthat.com/ you may have line of sight depending on where you are in your complex.

I have tried from my location with a 24Db dish and have had no luck with the vegetation.

I would like to get a number of nodes operating in the 78704 and 78745 areas. I do not yet know if any of us have connections the the mesh, but if necessary i am interested in trying to get a node placed in a weather-proof box at a couple feet altitude in the 78704 with an omni directional high gain. Alternately, as a start; when will the SAMC node be on the mesh? we can start branching from it temporarily until we can get some central nodes up to branch downtown for us.

also i am willing to put up TEMPORARILY a node on the internet to get a tunnel to South Austin, but i do not know the linux required, so would need help.
